La Roche Sur Yon Footbridge

The UniLED Handrail light was chosen to illuminate the $6 million bridge across the railway tracks in La Roche-sur-Yon.

Designers Bernard Tschumi and Howard Dutton used inspiration for the tubular structure from the Eiffel Tower which uses the same style of diagonal mesh.
The UniLED Handrail light was used throughout the 67 metre span of the bridge, along the main handrail and down the stairs to provide a safe, well lit environment for users. The light was also installed down the length of the bridge at the top of the structure to accentuate the “infinite span”. 245 lights were used in total to create the final effect, using only 1.5 kilo watts of energy. A combination of fantastic design and professional lighting has created an iconic feature across the La Roche-sur-Yon skyline. Photos supplied courtesy of Christophe Perocheau.
